God is Too Wise to Make a Mistake. - continued

Too Wise to Make a Mistake” is a statement I have heard my mother say many times. Once when I was at her home visiting I was looking in a box of pictures and came across a letter carefully placed in a clear protective page cover. This handwritten letter was given to my mother by her niece, Faye. The letter was written by my maternal grandmother, who parted this life several years before I was born.

The letter was actually written to Faye’s mother, Rachael. It was written in about 1951 and included an update of the events that were taking place in Grandma’s southern neighborhood during that time. You see, Rachael had left their southern community to move up north. Among the many words, Grandma mentioned a sad incident and following it she wrote, “God is too wise to make a mistake.” There it was in writing, I thought, that much misunderstood statement I had heard so often from my mother and her siblings. I wondered why my mother used this phrase at the point of dreadful news. Well, at least now I know from whence she heard it. I was fresh out of Bible College at the time so my recent powerful grip on the Word would not allow me to believe that death or tragedy was to be connected with God’s wisdom. Yet, today I clearly understand the heart of what was said…this was their way of saying absolutely nothing surprises God. Nothing is hidden from God’s infinite wisdom, therefore, he has the foresight to know when and what will happen before it happens and he makes no errors. Although our will is involved in our life results (another message), God’s promises and permissions remain in place thus no mistake on his part and nothing surpassing his wisdom. God’s wisdom has not lessened just because we do not understand our current temporal situation. God is omnipresent and omnipotent while we may be surprised or caught off guard by trails.

On March 18th of this year my mother left earth for Glory. She stepped out of her body and entered into eternal rest. Ahh, now I understand the statement. It brings to mind the words of Jesus when he said, Not my will but thy will be done. The wisdom of God is never failing and we must trust him and lean not to our own understanding. Blessed are they that die in the Lord for their works will follow them. Yes, to live is Christ, but to die is gain! All wise God, you are TOO WISE TO MAKE A MISTAKE! Today I can say with joy - Rest in paradise Momma…we will see you again.

To others who are without their mothers, today spend some time thinking about her but do not sorrow as those that have not hope. Rejoice over the richness she added to your life. If your mother is alive; do something to show her you love her this Mother’s Day!

God’s best is yours today and always.
